NSE Qualifications & Deadlines
Do I Qualify for National Student Exchange (NSE)?
- You must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- You need to have a minimum of 24 USM credits. (Transfer credits do not count toward this requirement)
- You do not need to have a declared major.
- You must be enrolled as a FULL-TIME USM student the semester prior to participating in a National Exchange Program.
When are the Application Deadlines?
The National Student Exchange "Priority Placement" deadline has passed for 2011-12. The deadline was February 12th, 2011. However, limited opportunities still exist so if you are interested please contact the NSE office at firstname.lastname@example.org to ask about availability.
What does Priority Placement Mean?
Some schools can only take a limited number of students so they fill up fast for the 2011-12 academic year. In order to have the best possible chance to get into your first choice school you should submit your full application by the Priority Placement deadline.
What if I've Missed the Priority Deadline? Can I Still Apply?
USM will accept applications for NSE through September of 2011. However after the February deadline school availability can be quite limited.
