International students and scholars are not required to purchase the USM plan, but they must have proof of coverage. If you have your own plan from home or another insurance carrier please be sure that you have provided that information to the International Programs office.
Short Term Coverage: If you will only be with us for a few months it may make more sense for you to puchase a monthly plan. Listed below are a few other options which meet the J-1 visa requirements. Please note that we do not work directly with these plans so please be sure you read the information carefully and/or talk with one of their repreentatives to understand how the coverage will work if you need to use it while in the US.
