Dr. Sharon Timberlake teaches Organizational Theory, Diversity in the Workplace, Toward a Global Ethics, Managing Organizational Change, and Research Methods, among other courses in the Leadership Studies program. Her research and publications have focused on collaboration, particularly among municipalities in response to the arrival of newcomer populations and issues related to gender and the workplace.
Prior to joining the academic community at LAC, Dr. Timberlake worked for the Maine Ethics Commission and for over twenty years with the Maine Department of Labor focusing on economic development, migrant labor, low income youth and older worker programs, and employment and training. She later served as the Director of Dislocated Worker Programs for a nonprofit agency in Washington, DC, and as the Executive Director of a social service agency in Portland that provided childcare for young low-income families, outdoor adventure-based counseling for at-risk youth, and a drop-in center for homeless teens.
