US and Europe: In the Aftermath of Iraq

Dr. Bowman Miller will present a lecture, "The US and Europe:
In the Aftermath of Iraq," at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, September
14 in the Moot Court Room of the Law School Building on University
of Southern Maine's Portland campus. The lecture, preceded
by an informal reception at 6 p.m., is free and open to the
public.
Dr. Miller is director of the Office of Analysis for Europe
for the Bureau of Intelligence and Research of the Department
of State. For nearly two decades, he has managed foreign affairs
research and analysis for all of Western Europe and Canada
in support of U.S. foreign policy formulation. He has served
as principal foreign affairs analyst for the Federal Republic
of Germany, headed the State Department's Threat Analysis
Group in the Office of Security, and conducted terrorism threat
analysis to protect senior foreign visitors to the U.S. Secretary
of State and all U.S. diplomatic facilities abroad. Miller,
who earned his doctorate at Georgetown University, previously
served as a U.S. Air Force Officer specializing in counterintelligence
and terrorism analysis, attaining the rank of major.
The program is cosponsored by the USM Muskie School of Public
Service, the University of Southern Maine, the World Affairs
Council and the USM Department of Political Science.
