NYT U.S. Supreme Court Correspondent to Speak at Law School

Linda Greenhouse, U.S. Supreme Court correspondent for the
New York Times, will speak at the University of Maine School
of Law at 6 p.m., Monday, April 12. She will talk about "What
Got Into the Court and What Happens Next?: The Supreme Court's
Amazing Last Term and Fascinating Current One." The lecture
is free and open to the public and will be preceded by a reception
at 5:15 p.m. in the Law School Lobby. To reserve a seat, please

Greenhouse has been the U.S. Supreme Court correspondent
for The New York Times since 1978, and was awarded the Pulitzer
Prize in Journalism for her coverage of the Court in 1998.
She began her tenure at The New York Times in 1968 as a news
clerk to the columnist James Reston. She was soon promoted
to general assignment report and for several years covered
county government and the New York State legislature. She
was named a senior writer for The Times in 1990. Greenhouse
also appears on the PBS program "Washington Week in Review."
Greenhouse is the Law School's Libra Journalist-In-Residence.
The Libra Professorships were established in 1989 to attract
nationally known scholars to University of Maine System campuses.
The Professorships are endowed by a gift of $5 million to
the University of Maine System by the late Elizabeth B. Noyce.
