School of Law Hosts Minority High School Students
February 25, 2004
Local students of color in high schools have been invited
to spend the afternoon at the University of Maine School of
Law on Thursday, February 26. There will be over 30 students
from Portland and Lewiston High.
Running from 1-4:30 p.m., students will hear lawyers, judges,
and law students explain their interest in the law. They also
will see what a typical law class is like (they have been
assigned a case to read in preparation), and view a video
on Brown v. Board of Education.
The day is sponsored by the Coalition for Diversity made
up of the local NAACP, the Law School Admissions Council,
the Black Law Student Association and the Latino/a Law Student
Association.
