Completed USM Glickman Family Library Unveiled 4/15-16

April 17, 2004

USM's Albert Brenner Glickman Family Library, located on Portland's Forest Ave., is completed, thanks to more than $3.3 million in private donations.

The opening celebrations begin Thursday with a brunch, afternoon tea, and evening reception designed to thank the many individual and corporate donors. For details and to arrange coverage, call USM Public Affairs at 780-4200.

Friday is USM Day at the library and marks the first day the top three floors will be open to the public. The media is welcome to attend any of these events, which include tours of the facility, readings by "Words & Images" (USM's literary and artistic journal) contributors, and food available for the first time in the building at the AAA Northern New England Cafe. Historical artifacts and photos on the first floor show the building's transformation from derelict building that was originally a bakery to a library.

Please call USM Public Affairs at 780-4200 to make coverage arrangements.
