Maine Volunteer Service Symposium Looks at Canadian Model

May 26, 2005

The Maine Commission for Community Service and the University of Southern Maine Muskie School of Public Service are presenting a symposium, "Together by Design: Lessons from Canada's Voluntary Sector Initiative," on Monday, June 6, at Buchanan Alumni House on the University of Maine campus in Orono.

The symposium will introduce Canada's Voluntary Sector Initiative (VSI)--a co-managed experiment at building a working relationship between the Canadian government and Canada's voluntary sector. Canadian leaders will explain how a program like VSI might help strengthen the Maine volunteer sector, which is an essential part of every sustainable community.

Registration is $40 with housing available. Please RSVP by June 1 online at www.MaineServiceCommission.gov/symposium/index.php.
