Colgan To Outline Tourism Initiative

With the summer tourist season fast approaching, USM economist Charles Colgan will meet with business leaders to outline the work of an initiative to help strengthen Maine's tourism industry.

Colgan, professor of public policy and management in the USM Muskie School, is a key player in the University of Maine System's Center for Tourism, Research and Outreach, otherwise known as CENTRO. Led by USM and the University of Maine in Orono, the mission of CENTRO is to strengthen Maine tourism through research as well as outreach to the industry and state.

Colgan will present CENTRO's work to date and outline future tourism-related initiatives at a breakfast meeting hosted by the USM Corporate Partners, a support group consisting of some 150 businesses.

Time/Date: 7:15 to 9 a.m., this Wednesday, May 10. (Presentation at 8.)

Place: USM's Woodbury Campus Center, Bedford St., Portland.
