Concert Featuring Music by Liz Cutting Benefits the St. Lawrence and Increases Awareness of Teen Suicide

A concert celebrating the life of Liz Cutting will be held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, August 31, at the St. Lawrence Arts and Community Center, 76 Congress St., Portland. Cutting, a talented folk/rock singer and songwriter performed on USM’s radio station WMPG. She appeared on WMPG programs "Local Motives" and "The Locals," winning the respect of both listeners and those who worked with her.

A Wells native, Cutting took her own life three years ago at the age of 17, leaving a musical legacy that remains in the minds of all those who knew her. Performers featured in this celebration of her life will be Laurie Jones of Ellsworth, Sidereal Day, the Joe Mizzarri Band, and other guests. A staff member from Sweetser’s Crisis Services will be on hand to provide guidelines to recognize and prevent child or teen suicide.

The event is co-sponsored by WMPG Community Radio 90.9 and 104.1 FM, http://www.wmpg.org, listener supported radio at the University of Southern Maine.
