News ReleasesUniversity Neighborhood Organization Hosts Traffic Plan Forum: What You Need To Know About The Portland Peninsula Traffic Plan January 24, 2006Contact Information: The University Neighborhood Organization (UNO) - Community Without Borders will host a two-part forum about Portland's Peninsula Traffic Plan in February. Part two will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, in USM's Luther Bonney Auditorium, Portland. UNO will host a panel discussion addressing the plan's recommendations for roadway improvements and modifications along Franklin Street in Bayside, and Route 77 through Deering Oaks and along State and High Streets. Panel participants include Stephen Landry, assistant state traffic engineer, Maine D.O.T., Katherine Early, engineering manager, City of Portland, Cheryl Leeman, chair, Portland's Transportation Committee, Ann Pringle, Friends of Deering Oaks & Peninsula Traffic Study Committee, Terrance Walsh, deputy chief of Portland's Emergency Management Services. The panel will be moderated by Christina Feller, director, League of Maine Neighborhoods. There will be time for a question and answer session with the audience. The Peninsula Traffic Plan is currently under review by the City Council and Planning Board and is scheduled for consideration for adoption as part of Portland's Comprehensive Plan in the near future. Members of the public are encouraged to learn about this proposed plan and to provide input to the City.
