11th Annual Old-Fashioned Outdoor Band Concert

WHO: University of Southern Maine (USM) School of Music Concert Band, conducted by Peter Martin, professor of Music, and guest conductor Timothy Burns, graduate student.

WHAT: 11th Annual Old-Fashioned Outdoor Band Concert featuring folk songs, hymns and marches; free and open to the public; barbecue picnic available at “old-fashioned” prices. 

WHEN: Concert, 1 p.m., barbecue picnic, 12 p.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28

WHERE: The Green outside Corthell Hall, USM Gorham campus. In case of rain, Brooks Student Center, Gorham campus.

In celebration of autumn and the beginning of the new school year, the USM School of Music invites the community to enjoy this free annual concert. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. The concert is sponsored by ARAMARK.

The program is part of the “USM in Your Backyard” initiative.

Auditions for Community Area Musicians

Youth vocalists, Southern Maine Children's Choir and Southern Maine Youth Chorale will hold auditions on Wednesday, September 3 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Schedule online.

Adult musicians, Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra auditions will be held on Wednesday, September 3 at 7 p.m. More information.
