On Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 5:00 p.m., the USM School of Music will present graduate music student Derek Herzer in his graduate piano recital. The recital will take place in Corthell Concert Hall on the USM Gorham Campus. Derek has been a student of Laura Kargul for two years, since arriving at USM. He earned his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University.

True to the nature of this performer to walk other than the beaten path, Derek's December 15th recital program will feature more obscure 20th century works than we often hear, including York Bowen's Second Ballade, Nikolai Medtner's Sonata Romantica, George Enescu's First Sonata, and Leopold Godowsky's Passacaglia.

Student recitals at USM are free and open to the public.

Members of the press, and those needing special accommodations to participate fully in this program, contact Lori Arsenault, (207) 780-5142, Hearing impaired: call USM's telex / TDD number (207) 780-5646.
