History
This year will mark the 21st anniversary of the USM School of Music’s annual scholarship gala. A signature event, this evening highlights the formidable talent of USM School of Music students, entertains hundreds of guests and most importantly, raises more than $50,000 net for USM music scholarships.
Theme
Each year’s gala features a “theme” that is reflected in the music and the menu. “21 – Coming of Age” represents that year 2011 celebrates the 21st anniversary of the USM School of Music’s production and presentation of this beautiful and delicious evening. It has grown to become one of the area’s most popular non-profit holiday fundraising celebrations.
Reservation Levels
Our reservation prices have remained at the same levels for the past seven years. A patron reservation is $90/person. A Host reservation is $150/person. More than 150 guests now join the Host Committee, including businesses that purchase “Corporate Host Tables for Ten.” Host names are printed on the formal invitations and in the gala program books.
Patrons who attend at all levels enjoy...
Hors d’oeuvres during cocktails with a backdrop of holiday music performed by USM student music ensembles; reserved seating at a festive dinner banquet with complimentary dinner wine and tableside serenading; a welcoming champagne toast in Hannaford Hall by University President, Selma Botman, followed by a spectacular live auction, leading to the grand centerpiece concert performed by talented USM School of Music students. The evening concludes with desert and coffee in the grand lobby accompanied by more live seasonal music.
Live Auction
The gala’s live auction is the “backbone” to raising funds for USM music scholarships through this elegant evening. Each year approximately twenty items are auctioned off by a professional auctioneer.
Importance of raising scholarship funds for the USM School of Music
Over the past twenty years, this scholarship event has raised more than one-half million dollars for scholarships, all of which has been awarded to talented, passionate and worthy USM music majors who in turn enrich our lives and the lives of younger generations.
