The Southern Maine Children's Choir will present their Spring Concert on Thursday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m. in Corthell Concert Hall on the USM Gorham Campus. The choir is the vocal ensemble of the USM Youth Ensembles, sponsored by Macy's and managed by the USM School of Music.
Directed by Paul McGovern, the varied program will include a beautiful arrangement of a famous hymn from the shape-note tradition Hark! I Hear the Harps Eternal, a duet by J. S. Bach from Cantata 15, a light-hearted piece titled Peace on Earth . . . and lots of little crickets with percussion instruments imitating the sounds of nature, and an arrangement of Liza (Water Come a Me Eye) featuring a choir member playing a steel drum.
Admission is by donation.
