Virginia HudakThe USM School of Music presents Virginia Hudak, soprano, in her senior recital. A music education major, she is a voice student of Bruce Fithian and Edward Reichert.

Virginia started singing in seventh grade, inspired by her grandmother. Her first experience was as a baritone in the middle school choir (there were no males in the choir). She sang alto in the high school choir for two years until her teacher asked her to switch to soprano. She's been a soprano ever since. She credits her high school band and choir directors at Thornton Academy for encouraging her to study music. Virginia's plans for the future are to perform for a while before going into teaching, and then eventually go to grad school for music therapy.

At USM, Virginia has performed with the University Chamber Singers, the USM Concert Band and Wind Ensemble (clarinet), and the USM Vocal Jazz Ensemble. She played auxiliary percussion in the pit orchestra in Straus' Die Fledermaus, and sang in the chorus in PORTopera's Madam Butterfly, and this past summer at the Arundel Barn Playhouse in their productions of Chicago, Shrek the Musical, and All Shook Up. Virginia's senior recital program will demonstrate her versatility with a range of songs from early music to contemporary musical theatre.

Student recitals are free and open to the public. They are subject to change without notice, so feel free to call the Music Box Office for confirmation before coming.
