News & Events

Scholarship Gala
The grand centerpiece concert will feature the USM Jazz Ensemble, USM Wind Ensemble, USM Chamber Singers, students majoring in Voice Performance singing opera and students majoring in Piano Performance providing accompaniment. The USM String Quartet will perform Mozart’s “Eine kleine Nachtmusik,” which translates to “A Little Night Music.”
USM Youth Ensembles
The concert will include the Southern Maine Youth Chorale (SMYC), conducted by Rebecca Green, and the Southern Maine Children’s Choir (SMCC), conducted by Paul McGovern.
Not Your Grandpa's Jazz
The USM Faculty Jazz Ensemble performs together just once every two years. The ensemble noted that grandfathers, and grandmothers alike, are more than welcome to attend the concert.

Young Singers, Auditions for Youth Choruses are Continuous!

Youth vocalists, Southern Maine Children's Choir (treble voices grades 4 and up) and Southern Maine Youth Chorale (middle/high school mixed voices) invite you to audition for the 2014-2015 academic year. Come to a rehearsal in January and try it out, then make arrangements with the directors for your auditions. SMCC is 5:45 to 7 p.m. SMYC is 7:30 to 9 p.m., Wednesdays in Room 211 Corthell Hall.
