George Shaler is a Research Associate of Criminal Justice and Public Health Programs at the Muskie School of Public Service. With over ten years of experience, Mr. Shaler provides program evaluation and consultation services to state and local government agencies as well as community-based organizations. During his tenure with the Maine SAC, Mr. Shaler has worked on the following criminal justice issues: Disproportionate minority contact Sex offenses Prison/jail health care issues Gun violence Community policing Juvenile recidivism School suspension/expulsion policies Mr. Shaler is most interested in the connection between criminal justice and public health issues. In addition, he is interested in projects that enhance the evaluation capacity in our partnering agencies. Mr. Shaler received a BA in Anthropology from Hamilton College and a Masters in Public Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC.
