Congratulations to Dr. Tracy Michaud-Stutzman, chair of the Tourism and Hospitality program at the Muskie School, for being awarded a Faculty Senate teaching award for 2017! Dr. Michaud-Stutzman is described by her colleagues as "caring and dedicated to seeing her students and the Tourism and Hospitality program excel." They go on to say that "...in a few short years she has developed robust and growing partnerships with communities across Maine and internationally to provide rigorous experiential learning and student internship opportunities. She is responsive to industry needs within the state and is developing teaching opportunities and research partnerships that couple learning for our students and meeting the needs of Maine’s tourism industry as it expands each year. Dr. Michaud-Stutzman has developed comparative case studies and collaborative learning opportunities for our students to study internationally in Bermuda, Cuba, and Iceland; three island communities distinct in their development trajectories yet interlinked by their dependence on the tourism sector. She consistently receives high praise from students for her dedication to teaching and providing them theoretically grounded and applied, real world experiences that prepares them to enter the workforce upon graduation". Congratulations to Tracy!
