Dr. Matthew Edney, Professor of Geography & Osher Professor in the History of Cartography, recently delivered the keynote address to the Newberry Library in Chicago for the 50th anniversary of the Nebenzahl Lecture Series on the History of Cartography. His talk was titled "Of Maps, Libraries, and Lectures." The Hermon Dunlap Smith Center for the History of Cartography at the Newberry Library hosts Kenneth Nebenzahl, Jr., Lectures in the History of Cartography. This year’s program was titled Maps, Their Collecting and Study: A Fifty Year Retrospective. Over the years, the Nebenzahl Lectures have consistently broken new ground in cartographic study, and have played a central role in the field’s remarkable growth.
