The Muskie School of Public Service is Maine’s distinguished public policy school, combining an extensive applied research and technical assistance portfolio with rigorous undergraduate and graduate degree programs in geography-anthropology, community planning and development, public health, and public policy and management. The school is nationally recognized for applying innovative knowledge to critical issues in the fields of sustainable development and health and human service policy and management, and is home to the Cutler Institute for Health and Social Policy.

According to a new report from Muskie School researchers Charles Colgan, Samuel Merrill, and Damon Yakovleff, if Maine is to ensure the quality of its drinking water, mitigate hazards of flooding, and handle the effects of stormwater, it will have to make widespread use of cost-effective alternatives instead of relying on large and expensive infrastructure improvements.

Geo-Anthro Offers New Degree Tracks

Students now can earn a Bachelor of Arts in Geography-Anthropology with a teacher certification track in either elementary education or secondary education.

The Muskie School has collaborated with programs from throughout the University of Maine System and the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, to pilot a competency-based, coordinated training program for Mental Health Rehabilitation Technicians (MHRTs) throughout the state.
