He then moved to Southern California where he studied super acids during a post-doctoral stint at the University of California, Riverside. After a year as an Office of Naval Research Post-Doctoral Fellow examining fuel-cell materials, Dan started teaching as a visiting faculty member at the University of Toledo where he began his research on highly decorated boron clusters use as solid electrolytes.
