ESOL Program Highlights:

News & Events

On November 9, ESOL and International students had a fun day at the local bowling center, Easy Day in South Portland. Students and instructors participated in this afternoon excursion to learn about and participate in a game of bowling.
Students of USM's ESOL program had the opportunity to participate in a New England tradition on October 7 on an apple picking excursion to beautiful Libby & Sons orchards in Limerick, Maine.
On October 8, students in the ESOL program's grammar courses had the opportunity to work with USM's Tourism and Hospitality students to discuss food and culture in preparation for the upcoming Husky Harvest Festival.


Application Deadline for International Students: May 1, 2016

The Summer Intensive English Language Program (IELP) is for students who want to improve their academic English language skills...and to have fun learning about the Maine coast and its unique history and culture.

Program Dates: July 18- August 12, 2016 (4 weeks)

Evening TOEFL Test Prep and Pronunciation Courses

Computerized TOEFL testing practice

The USM ESOL Program offers courses in TOEFL Test Preparation and Pronunciation for Non-Native English Speakers in conjunction with the Office of Professional and Continuing Education. These courses are offered in the fall and spring semesters based on student interest.
