We support your involvement in the community! We can help you get connected.
We have strong community relationships throughout Southern Maine and on campus. We can connect you and support your along the way to help you gain valuable experience, develop global citizenship skills, give back to the community, and apply and explore your academic interests.
You can get involved in a variety of ways:
- Internships - Internships are offered through most departments and majors. They provide rich experience and learning. We can help find and connect you with the best person to reach your academic and career goals and help you prepare for the experience, as well as explore connections to academic programs for credit.
- Volunteering - Our office offers involvement in several ongoing community volunteer programs and annual community service events. We can also connect you to organizations or other USM volunteer opportunities that match your skills and/or interests.
- Service-Learning Courses - Many USM classes incorporate community-based and/or service- learning. If you learn best by doing, look for classes and academic programs that include engaged learning opportunities.
