Office of Admissions

Welcome, Huskies!

Admitted Students

Congratulations — you've been admitted to USM! We look forward to welcoming you to the USM community. First, there are a few steps to take to make sure you'll be all set to begin your first semester.

Undergraduate students

  • $100 enrollment deposit. Reserve your spot for the fall semester by submitting your deposit online or by mail.
  • Admitted student events. Register now for an Admitted Student Day.
  • Financial aid. To apply for financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Contact Student Financial Services with any questions about financial aid or paying for your education.
  • Orientation program. Check your USM email for an invitation to the program, which includes academic advising and course registration.
  • On-campus housing. If you'd like to live on campus, you must submit a housing application with a $75 deposit. Since housing is highly sought after, we recommend sending your application as soon as possible.
  • University of Maine System and MaineStreet accounts. Activate these accounts as soon as possible. Your activation code is included in your acceptance packet.
  • Final high school transcript. If you're currently in high school, you're required to submit a final high school transcript.
  • Immunization requirements. If you were born after December 31, 1965, you must comply with the Maine Post-Secondary School Immunization Law before you can register for classes.
  • Placement examination in mathematics. New students may be required to take USM's placement examination in mathematics.
  • Advanced placement/experiential learning credit. Some entering students may qualify for credit for life/work/military learning or performance on certain exams.
  • Students with disabilities. USM provides a wide range of services to qualified students. Documentation may be required.

Graduate students

  • Admission reply form. Reserve your spot for the fall semester by submitting the Admission reply form you received with your acceptance.
  • USM financial support. Respond to any offers you've received.
  • University of Maine System and MaineStreet accounts. Activate these accounts as soon as possible. Your activation code is included in your acceptance packet.
  • Immunization requirements. If you were born after December 31, 1965, you must comply with the Maine Post-Secondary School Immunization Law before you can register for classes.
  • Housing. While we don't have separate housing for graduate students, we do house graduate students in our residence halls. Graduate students may find our two upper-class residences — Upperclass Hall and Philippi Hall — amenable to their needs. Please note that we do not have family housing available, and all residents must be enrolled USM students to live on campus.
