The Osher Map Library will host a guest lecture event Thursday evening, Nov. 17, in connection with its current exhibit, The Grand Tour and the Development of Tourism 1600–1900, at the Sam L. Cohen Educational Center at the Library.
Benjamin Bertram, professor of English at USM, will discuss Coryat’s Crudities, Thomas Coryat’s account of his Grand Tour of Europe in 1608. He will also tell of Coryat’s last travels to Jerusalem in 1613 and then, on foot, to India in 1614.
A reception and viewing of the exhibit will take place from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m., with Bertram’s talk to follow from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
