Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot

Dr. Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot is the award-wining author of I've Known Rivers: Lives of Loss and Liberation, which examines trauma, resilience, creativity, and wisdom through the lens of "human archaeology" as well as Balm in Gilead: Journey of a Healer and, The Good High School: Portraits of Character and Culture. She uses biography and autobiography in social science and education to document the art and science of portraiture. She also studies schools as social systems, patterns and structures of classroom life, socialization and acculturation within families and communities, and the relationships between culture and learning styles. She will be speaking on the topic "Remembering a Life the Way it Really Was."
