CITI Certificate
The CITI Program is a subscription service providing
research ethics education to all members of the research
community. The CITI Program includes:
o Basic Courses in the Protection of Human Research
Subjects.
o Biomedical Focus
o Social and Behavioral Focus.
o Refresher Courses
o Good Clinical Practice Course.
o Health Information Privacy and Security Course (HIPS)
o Laboratory Animal Welfare Courses for investigators and
IACUC Members
o Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR).
o All faculty, staff, and students are required to have a
current NIH Certificate of Completion on file with the ORC
if they are involved with research.
o Certificates are good for 3 years, after which they must
be taken again.

2. From the drop down menu: select University of Southern
Maine
3. Fill in the remaining information. Remember to keep your
log in
and password in a safe place for future use.

AAALAS Online Federally Mandated IACUC Training
- The Online AALAS Learning Library provides IACUC training for animal researchers. This is to
fulfill the federally mandated training requirement when it cannot be completed in a timely manner by attending a training conducted by USM's attending veterinarian.
- The certification is good for 3 years from the date of completion.
AALAS Training Instructions:
- Click on the "Continue Without Logging In" button.
- Read through all pages in the Introduction. Click "Show All" or each page until you reach the end of the first lesson.
- Click "Next Lesson", and so forth through all lessons in the course.
- Read "Final Comments" lesson and then click "Final Exam" at the bottom of the page.
- Follow the exam instructions and take the exam. (A passing grade is required.)
- Upon completion, print your results,
hand-write your name legibly on the certificate, and the
date you took the exam.
- Submit your exam to the Office of Research Compliance, attention IACUC.
