Occupational Health and Safety Program

The University of Southern Maine (USM) Occupational Health and Safety Program is intended to provide guidelines for establishing a high level of safety for all individuals who are involved in the care and use of animals.  The program is comprised of the following three components:

 

Policy and Standard Operating Procedures - This document serves as the main source of guidance for any individuals involved in the care and use of animals.  

 

Informational Handout for Individuals Directly or Indirectly Exposed to Animals - Any personnel who has direct or indirect contact with animals used for research, teaching or testing at the University of Southern Maine MUST read this information prior to such contact.

 

Personnel Health Monitoring Questionnaire - Any personnel who have DIRECT and CONTINUOUS exposure to animals while at the University of Southern Maine must fill out this form every September.  This questionnaire is administered and collected by the University Environmental Health and Safety Office.
