USM's Osher Map Library and Smith Center for Cartographic Education hopes to reach out to a wider digital audience with a new website and embedded data aimed at drawing more students, researchers, historians and artists into its unique collection.

Osher Map Library to celebrate new exhibition “To Conquer or Submit? America views the Great War” 100 years after U.S. involvement in WWI

On Thursday, March 30 from 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., the Osher Map Library will celebrate the opening of a new exhibition of World War I maps and propaganda in recognition of the 100 year anniversary of America’s entry into the war in March of 1917. A special lecture by Holly Korda titled "Knitting for Victory in WWI: How the Red Cross Mobilized the Nation to Knit and Helped Win the War" will take place at 6 p.m.

USM's Osher Map Library highlighted in 'Best Maps of 2016'

A just-published list of best maps by National Geographic includes digitized antique globes at USM's Osher Map Library. The university joins the Swiss national mapping agency, the Central Intelligence Agency and a dozen others to be highlighted among "The Best Maps of 2016."
