Maine Arts Commission funds Voix Franco Americaines/Franco-American Voices

The Franco-American Collection at Lewiston-Auburn College will host an education series entitled voix Franco-Americaines: Franco-American Voices from May 25, 2013 - July 31, 2013. The series will illuminate themes of creativity, identity and self-expression in the Franco-American Community in New England.

The project will provide a stage for the art form of story-telling, and will embrace the humanities in examining the relationship between story-telling and Franco-American identity. Finally, the display of the Collections' own oral histories will focus on those stores which were gathered in the early days of the Collections, in the 1970s, and will bring audiences into the lives of the subjects in the late 19th and earl 20th centuries.
