I joined the University of Southern Maine as Director of Online Teaching and Learning in August 2012.
Prior to joining the University of Southern Maine, I was Research Associate, and Founder and Lead for the Dutton e-Education Institute's Research and Development (R&D) Initiative at the Pennsylvania State University. At Penn State, my work focused on the design and research of technology-based learning environments.
In my designs, I attempt to bring to bear an understanding of learning science, instructional design principles, and knowledge of current Web-based and mobile technologies.
I received my Ph.D. degree from the Instructional Systems program at The Pennsylvania State University in 2009. [See book based on doctoral research: Extending Interactions with Electronic Text: A Design-Based Research Investigation of a Web-based Reading Environment].
I have published over 15 peer-reviewed articles and I frequently present my work at academic conferences.
