Chinese Language and Culture Workshop Offerings

The School of Education and Human Development is proud to host two faculty from Jiang-xi University of Science and Technology’s Chinese Language Center.

Min Liang

Min Liang received her Bachelor’s in Economics from Jilin University in 2002, and is currently completing her Master’s in Economics from Jiang-xi University where she is a Lecturer for the School of Foreign Studies and International Trade and Economics.  Min is currently teaching International Finance, Money & Banking to students majoring in Economics; and Oral Chinese, Chinese Culture & Economy to foreign students whose first language is not Chinese. From 2009-2010, Min taught Mandarin at the Confucius Institute at University of Antananarivo in Madagascar to a wide range of groups and age levels.  In addition to her many academic activities, Min enjoys listening to music, reading, writing, swimming, and is an avid movie goer.

Hongying Liu

Hongying Liu received her Bachelor’s degree in English Language & Culture from Jiang-xi Normal University in 1989 and a Master’s in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in 2007. Hongying is an Associate Professor at Jiang-xi University of Science and Technology and teaches College English, Listening Comprehension, and Applied Grammar. Hongying has written two articles The Role of Cultural Factors in Chinese Non-English Majors’ EFL Teaching and Learning, and English Writing Teaching Based on Computer.  Hongying is an excellent ping pong player, enjoys playing basketball, and loves music and singing folk songs.

Beautiful China

This lecture series will explore China's Word Heritage including the Great Wall and the Terracotta Army. You will also explore Chinese architecture and nature. This lecture is free and open to the public. Drop-ins welcome there is a different topic each session! Bring your lunch and join us to learn more about Beautiful China.

For beginners with little or no knowledge of the Chinese language. The student will learn Chinese phonetics, tones, basic words, grammar, and sentence structure.
