February 2013 Show Schedule

 FEBRUARY 2013 SHOW SCHEDULE

Welcome to the deepest part of winter!    Though the upper world might be rendered barren and inhospitable by fierce winds, our underground dome is bright, warm and thriving!     And, ironically, though February is the year's shortest month, it is also the month in which we offer the greatest number of shows.  We have weekend matinees, Friday evening shows, as well as matinees and LASEROPOLLOZA 2013!!  shows during February show vacation week.

We know that you are champing at the bit!  We know you want to flee your home confines and we are happy to provide your escape.     Visit the Southworth Planetarium in February and we'll give you a Universe so energetic it's almost incandescent.    See 3-D full dome rock and constellations shows so bright, powerful and cheerful you'll never cry again.    We also have astronomy shows, curiously enough. Accompany Rusty Rocket and his rocket rookies as they roar through the Solar system.    Follow an "average" yellow star in "The Little Star That Could" as he searches the galaxy for planets.  Along the way, he encounters an astounding array of stars and learns that being "average" can make a star rather special.

Also, explore the solar system at a higher level with our "Eight Planets and Counting show."  Venture out toward the solar system's periphery with "IBEX: Search for the Edge of the Solar System."  And, for those who adore science and history, we have "Two Small Pieces of Glass," a program about the science and history of telescopes.

Though the tulips rest dormant under snow shrouds; and the ocean has been mothballed until May, you'll experience ten summers' worth of exhilaration and joy here in the planetarium that never sleeps!
