R.A.D. - Rape Aggression Defense

Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) is a self defense course designed specifically for women. It is a comprehensive 12 hour program that combines heightened awareness and risk reduction strategies with practical, easy to learn self defense skills. The course is free at USM and had a lifetime return and practice policy for all graduates of the program.

The RAD Concept:
To develop and enhance the options of self defense so that they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked.

RAD is a Community Policing Program sponsored by the University of Southern Maine Police Department.

RAD offers:

  • Certified Instructors
  • Awareness and avoidance
  • Risk reduction strategies
  • Practical self defense tactics
  • Stratgies that are easy to learn, retain and employ
  • Free lifetime return and practice policy
  • Local instructors who are part of the community
