R. Bruce Thompson, Ph.D. (Developmental Psychology) has been awarded the 2014-2015 Provost Research Fellowship. His research project, to be conducted this year in local preschool centers, will explore the links between family socioeconomic status and cognitive development. A key goal of the research is to document links between aspects of poverty and suppressed language and metacognitive reasoning. Dr. Thompson’s expects his findings will help elucidate critical risk and resilience factors that may impact early educational achievement.
