On Monday, October 17, J. Trevor Hughes will discuss the responsibility of businesses’ private consumer data and how the individual is affected in his lecture “Data Environmentalism.” This installment of the L.L. Bean/Lee Surace Colloquium Series will be held at 4:45 p.m., University Events Room, Glickman Family Library on the Portland Campus.
J. Trevor Hughes is president and CEO of the world's largest association of privacy professionals and co-author of Privacy Law in Marketing, a continuously updated subscription-based CCH legal reference volume. In the 21st Century economy, consumer data has become both a strategic asset and a potential liability. Mr. Hughes will discuss the related legal expectations, privacy and disclosure concerns.
