USM basketball and track teams are ‘Thinking Pink’ in an effort to raise funds for cancer research and the women's ice hockey team is supporting veterans through the Wounded Warrior project. USM takes pride in hosting these student-athlete annual charitable events because they are an important philanthropy opportunity that gives us a chance to give back to our community.

The young people will compete for three rounds of morning competitions at the John Mitchell Center, which hosts USM's engineering and technology programs. While there, the students will tour the center's mechanical engineering laboratory with Dr. Mehrdaad Ghorashi, an associate professor of engineering. In all, three of the school's faculty members and two staffers will work on competition with a variety of middle school educators and volunteers.
