USM hosts overflow crowd for listening session with Sen. Angus King
The University of Southern Maine hosted an overflow crowd of 600 people at the Portland Campus' Hannaford Hall on March 5 for a marathon listening session by Sen. Angus King. For nearly four hours, the former Maine governor listened as dozens expressed their feelings about U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch and the current Presidential administration.

USM welcomes 54 new citizens in Portland campus ceremony
A standing-room-only crowd congratulated 54 new U.S. citizens in a morning naturalization ceremony March 3 at the University of Southern Maine's Talbot Auditorium in Portland. The new citizens stood together and pledged their the Oath of Allegiance. Then, one by one, they received their certificates of naturalization, the official proof of U.S. citizenship.

USM to host public listening session on U.S. Supreme Court nomination with Sen. Angus King
U.S. Sen. Angus King will hold a public listening session on Sunday, March 5, at USM to learn what Mainers wish to know about U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch. The session is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hannaford Hall on USM's Portland Campus. It is being co-sponsored by the University of Southern Maine and the University of Maine School of Law.
USM to host Maine Regional Science Bowl on March 4
About 100 high schoolers from across Maine will compete at USM's Gorham campus Saturday, March 4, in the annual Maine Regional Science Bowl. The competition matches teams against teams in subjects ranging from biology, chemistry, space science, physics and math. The winning team will compete in the National Science Bowl, held from April 27 to May 1 in Washington D.C.
USM Department of Engineering to host Maine Engineers Week Expo
The annual Maine Engineers Week Expo will be hosted by the University of Southern Maine's Department of Engineering on Saturday, March 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Costello Fieldhouse on the Gorham campus.
USM to host U.S. citizenship event March 3 on Portland campus
The celebration — planned by students in a "Global Migration and the Refugee Experience" class — will include the Oath of Allegiance and the awarding of certificates of naturalization, the official proof of U.S. citizenship.
