Organist and USM grad student to perform at Lewiston basilica

Organist Christopher Pelonzi, who is enrolled in a graduate program for choral conducting at USM, will perform July 26 at Lewiston’s grand Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

The afternoon concert is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.

Pelonzi is the dean of the Portland Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. He also serves as an artist-in-residence with Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ.

Pelonzi is the director of music for Portland’s Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and with the city’s peninsula and island parishes

The programfor the Lewiston concert includes: IV Dialogue sur les mixtures (from Suite Brève) — Langlais (1907-1991); Lazarus (from Meditations on the Love of God) — Marilyn Biery (b.1959); and Hommage à Frescobaldi (III, IV, V, VIII), Elévation, Communion, Fantaisie, Epilogue — Langlais (1907-1991).

The concert is free. Donations to restore the Casavant Organ are gratefully accepted.
