On the May episode of "The USM Update," University of Southern Maine President Glenn Cummings welcomes guests for a to talk Thinking Matters 2017. Dr. Rebecca Nisetich, director of the USM Honors Program and Thinking Matters chair, joins the program to talk about this year's research symposium. Plus, Dr. Maureen Ebben, associate professor of communication, and Hannah Burgess, senior communications major, discuss their research from Thinking Matters. Watch the segment.

Since graduating from USM in 1977 with his history degree, Neil Genzlinger took what he learned from working at The Free Press, USM's student newspaper, and turned it into a long and accomplished journalistic career. Genzlinger, currently a television critic at The New York Times, and Krysteana Scribner, the current editor-in-chief of The Free Press, join the show for a discussion on the changing journalistic landscape. "The USM Update" is a monthly, half-hour program covering all things USM. New episodes air on the first Monday of each month at 8:30 p.m. on the Portland-based Community Television Network (CTN) on channel 5.

"The USM Update" is produced by the USM Office of Public Affairs in partnership with CTN.
