University of Southern Maine students have been working with veterans with disabilities who have recently returned from Afghanistan and Iraq, facilitating adaptive winter recreational activities, including showshoeing, cross-country skiing, and skating. The students, who are members of the “Facilitation Adaptive Outdoor Recreation” class, have been working on this initiative at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester as a part of the Veterans Adaptive Sports and Training (VAST) program. The last day USM students will be at Pineland is 9 a.m.-12 noon, Wednesday, March 12.
