New Student Move In, Sunday, August 31:
Move in weekend at the University of Southern Maine begins on Sunday, August 31 when new residents arrive at USM’s Gorham campus residence halls from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. President David Flanagan will be on hand to greet these students, and their sometimes nervous families, beginning at 10 a.m.

This year, 1,080 students have chosen to live on campus in USM’s six residence halls, with more than 500 freshmen and transfer students moving in Sunday. More than 85 upperclassmen will be on hand to assist in welcoming and moving in their new student neighbors.

Dickey Wood Hall will not open this year as university officials consider how the building can be used.

Husky Fest, Wednesday, September 3:
Beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, USM will host its 14th Annual Husky Fest on lawn between Luther Bonney and Payson Smith Halls, Portland. Husky Fest brings out more students than any other campus event during the academic year. The event offers a free BBQ for students, live music and a resource fair featuring campus clubs and local businesses. Husky Fest concludes at 2:30 p.m.

See Welcome Week for a complete list of events for USM students.
