USM is hosting an open house for adults, transfers, and graduate students from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14 in USM’s Abromson Community Education Center at 88 Bedford Street on the USM Portland campus. Parking is free in the adjoining garage.
Hosted by the USM offices of Undergraduate Admission, Graduate Admission and Professional and Continuing Education, this event is part of an effort to help people with some college experience complete a degree, and remind those interested in expanding their education that pursuing their master’s degree at USM is a viable option.
Representatives from academic programs will be on hand to discuss degree possibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Student services staff will be available and focused on helping non-traditional learners with busy lives, full-time jobs, and family obligations to connect with the university and find an educational fit that makes sense for them.
At USM, one third of the current student population is over 25, half of all admitted students are transfers, and one third of the student body attends part-time. “The non-traditional learner is a large part of the USM identity. Whether they are finishing a degree or starting off on a new path, we are here to help them explore their options” says Sara “Cookie” Treible, USM’s assistant director of Undergraduate Admission.
