USM’s Charlie Colgan Revealed His 2013 Maine Economic Forecast on January 8
Nearly 300 members of the business community attended the USM Corporate Partners annual “Breakfast with Charlie,” otherwise known as USM Muskie School Professor Charles Colgan’s economic forecast for 2013 on Tuesday, January 8 in Hannaford Lecture Hall, Portland.
“Breakfast with Charlie” was sponsored by the USM Corporate Partners, a group of some 350 business people formed to support partnerships between the business sector and USM.
Colgan’s economic predictions for 2013 were based on his analysis of employment trends, income, retail sales, and a range of other indicators. Colgan, a professor of public policy and management in USM’s Muskie School of Public Service and former state economist, serves as a research fellow at the United Sates Bureau of Labor Statistics and chief economist for the National Ocean Economics Program. He is former chair of the Maine Consensus Economic Forecasting Commission, which prepares an economic outlook report for state budget preparation.
