John Glenn, the war hero turned astronaut turned U.S. Senator, will be remembered as a "luminary of space science," said Edward Gleason, the manager/astronomer at USM's Southworth Planetarium.

The TV program "207" featured Andrew Harris, the chair of USM's Department of Theatre, for a talk about his work as a storyteller. Harris is hosting a benefit reading on Dec. 11 at the St. Lawrence Arts Center in Portland. It's called "Mince Pies and Welsh Cakes." He'll be reading from Charles Dickens, Dylan Thomas and Kenneth Grahame.
