National Workforce Institute Receives Award

Professor of Human Resource Management Freda Bernotavicz is the Project Director for The National Workforce Institute, a five-year collaborative project that supports the development of skilled child welfare leaders across the country. Housed at The Cutler Institute in The Muskie School, the project builds on work of the Child Welfare Recruitment and Retention project completed earlier. The aim of the project is to improve the systems that recruit, train, supervise, manage and retain professionals in child welfare. Cutler Institute designed the training system and delivers training via distance learning to supervisors. The project includes 21 hours of on-line learning in the core curriculum in addition to live coaching sessions. The project won the 2011 Quality Award, awarded by the National Staff Development and Training Association.
