Our Mission

The Community of Arts (COA) is a living learning community with a mission to create an environment for students to integrate their artistic studies and their residential experiences. COA provides a venue for students, faculty and staff to interact outside of the classroom. COA encourages student, faculty and staff programs that foster innovative and interdisciplinary learning experiences that bring the intellectual life of the University in close alliance with the student's lives outside of the classroom.

COA participation is not limited to arts based majors but is open to all students at USM. Participants are welcome to sign up for housing in Robie-Andrews Hall where our program is housed; however, residence is not required to participate. COA strives to bring together students with an interest in the arts and allow them to express their creativity, explore the world of arts, meet USM faculty and staff, and form life long friendships.
