The Community of the Arts

If you have an interest in the fine and performing arts and are about to start your college experience, then COA is the program for you. Throughout the year, COA participants will take part in trips to concerts, museums and performances in the greater Portland area. Enjoy access to seminars on oil painting, jewelry making, instrument making, dance, film appreciation, etc. Attend on campus plays, recitals and openings as well as regular community dinners, socials and coffee houses.

COA offers an opportunity for students from all of USM's majors to explore their creativity while making friendships that will last a lifetime. If you are living on campus this fall and interested in becoming a part of COA please check the Community of Arts option on your housing application. Once we recieve your housing application we will mail you more information on COA as well as an LC/SIH application. Complete the Living Learning Community and Special Interest Housing Application and mail that back to us to be considered for the program. Space is limited and candidates are considered on a first come first serve bases. If you have already submitted your housing application you can request an LC/SIH application by e-mailing reslife@usm.maine.edu or calling (207)780-5240. COA participants live on 2nd Andrews and 2nd Robie.
