Summer Housing
Campus
Resources and Accommodations
Applications are now available at Residential Life and Resident
Education, 100 Upton Hall, Gorham, or call 207-780-5240 to
request a mailed or faxed application.
To qualify for on-campus accommodations during the summer,
students must be registered at U.S.M. for Summer 2009 or pre-registered
for Fall 2009 classes. Past due Spring 2009 charges must be
cleared prior to assignment. In most cases, summer housing
charges must be paid in full prior to summer check in. However,
a payment plan option may be available to USM students applying
for full summer housing. Please contact the Student Billing
office prior to May 1 at 780-5200 to discuss a payment plan.
Nightly, weekly, and full summer accommodations in doubles
and singles are available in Robie Hall on the Gorham campus
beginning Sunday, May 17, 2009 with a final move out
date of Friday, August 21, 2009. Students must make
arrangments for other accommodations between Friday, August
21 and their official fall move in date. Continuing residential
students will be allowed to move just belongings into their
fall rooms at the end of the summer housing period. No room
key will be issued, and staff will not check students in at
this time. Singles may be limited and are assigned on a first-come,
first-served basis. If a double room is not fully occupied
and no roommate is specified on the application, a roommate
may still be assigned.
Furnishings include a bed, desk, desk chair, closet(s), drawer
space and MicroFridge unit (combination microwave, refrigerator
and freezer). Please leave the MicroFridge clean upon check
out, or a $25.00 cleaning fee may be assessed. Linen may be
rented on a nightly or weekly basis, or guests may provide
their own. Each room has a main light, but guests may want
to bring a study light for task lighting. A common kitchen
is available in Robie Hall.
Bathrooms are community style and separate for men and women.
Please, no pets in the residence halls besides fish in aquariums,
seeing eye dogs or simian aids. Health and fire regulations
prohibit cooking in residence hall rooms.
Limited meal plans may be available during the summer months;
please call Dining Services at 780-5420 to inquire or see
www.southernmaine.campusdish.com
for dates, times and locations. Numerous restaurants are within
a short walking distance, and a Hannaford grocery store is
about a 10 minute walk away.
Registration and account status will be verified prior to
making a housing assignment. A confirmation letter with room
assignment, check-in information and balance due will be mailed
or e-mailed, depending on arrival date. Please remember that
charges must be paid before moving in. Make checks payable
to USM and mail to Dept. of Residential Life, 100 Upton Hall,
Gorham, ME 04038. Only full summer accommodations may eligible
for a three payment plan through Student Billing.
