John Derouche

Hello! I am the Resident Director (RD) for Upton Hastings Hall. I have been fortunate to work with students at USM in a variety of roles throughout my academic career. This is my second year as the RD for Upton Hastings. I have a BA in Applied Technical Leadership, an AS in web design, and am currently pursuing an MA in Leadership Studies inspired by an interest in student leadership development. I am originally from Mexico, ME where you will find the home of my parents, three brothers, and an assortment of pets. I am also fascinated with technology and art.

I am truly passionate about helping students find their path at USM and take on challenges that help them to become campus and community leaders. With the assistance of my team of 10 Resident Assistants for Upton Hastings, I seek to provide our community with a clean, safe, and welcoming home for Upton Hastings residents to work, play, and study. 

Upton Hastings is more than a building at USM.
